Street lighting poles in 3D for DIALux

poles_s

Here are some 3D models of Swedish standard street lighting poles for use in DIALux. Drawn in AutoCAD, exported and converted to DIALux *.m3d format.

While polygon count is moderate to high in order to make them look fancier the main cylindrical stem is conical instead of stepped. This deviation is done intentionally in order to reduce the number of polygons for better performance.

Instructions

Extract the zip archive.

Import all the files into the DIALux library by dragging and dropping the files. They will end up in the “Furniture” category.

After you insert them into your project for the first time make sure to set every pole with the option to use it as a decoration object. This will skip unnecessary calculations and significantly improve calculation time!

      Best Laurent

Its a bit of a tedious procedure but here goes. You need to repeat this for every object you wish to convert.

      1. Export from AutoCAD to *.sat. Check all the settings and make sure you have the proper version, some will not work.
      2. When importing the *sat file into DIALux you will end up with the wrong scale and sometimes the wrong insertion point.
      3. Correct the scale. Usually the object has been scaled by 1000 and rounded weirdly.
      4. Correct the insertion point if necessary. This can be done by positioning the object properly to the drawings point of origin (origo) so that your objects desired insertion point aligns with origo.
      5. Set the insertion point for the object to 0,0,0. This will align the insertion point with origo.
      6. Export the object to *.m3d from Dialux.

      Thats all !
      Best of luck to you
